Professor P. Narayanasamy was born on 02.01.1957 in a small village in the present Tirupur District of Tamilnadu, India. With the wide range of academic, research and administrative experience, his services were fully utilized by the Authorities of Anna University, Chennai and Government of Tamilnadu for many excellent works done by them. At present he is working as Dean, College of Engineering, Guindy Campus.He obtained his BE EEE from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore, ME and Ph.D from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Anna University, Chennai in the years 1980, 1982 and 1990 respectively. He started his career as a faculty member in the Ramanujan Computing Centre Anna University, Chennai in the year 1982 and became Professor of Computer Science and Engineering, Anna University, Chennai in the year 2000.
During his tenure at Anna University, Chennai, he was responsible for the establishment of Campus wide networking in Anna University. He was mostly responsible for the Single Window system of Tamilnadu Engineering Admission and he was the man behind the successful conduct of Distributed Single Window Counseling in four different places in Tamilnadu as the Secretary of TNEA which was well received and appreciated by all the sectors of the people of Tamilnadu. He has served as a Secretary, TNEA for more than four years, One term of three years as Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Founder Head of the Department of Information Science and Technology, Director, Centre for Faculty Development, Director In Charge of Ramanujan Computing Centre, Co-ordinator of MCA in Centre for Distance Education etc to quote his administrative assignments in Anna University. In addition, he worked as Director, Academic Courses in Anna University of Technology, Chennai for a period of one year on Deputation. He worked as Additional Controller of Examinations, University Departments, Anna University, Chennai from 10th May 2012 to 30th June 2014.
His areas of Interest are Computer Networks, Optimization Techniques, Mobile and Wireless Adhoc Networks and VLSI Design and Testing. He has guided many Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate students for their final year project works in the above mentioned areas. To his research credit, he has published about 60 research papers in the National and International Conferences and 40 papers in the National and International Journals. He has produced 2 MS (By Research) and 12 PhDs in the above areas at Anna University, Chennai. At present he is guiding many UG and PG students and about 12 Research Scholars for their Ph.D Programmes of Anna University, Chennai.
He has delivered state of the art lectures in many educational institutions and professional societies. He has conducted many short term courses for the teachers of Engineering colleges sponsored by AICTE. He has visited USA, Singapore, Australia, South Korea and many other countries in connection with his academic and research activities, presenting papers in the International Conferences, chairing sessions in the International conferences. He has executed several sponsored and consultancy projects of Anna University, Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology, Tamil Virtual University, AICTE, UGC and other government and private funding agencies.
Coimbatore Institute of Technology has awarded DISTINGUISHED ALUMNI AWARD 2014 for his contribution in the field of Engineering and Technology. He is Life Member of Indian Society for Technical Education, Computer Society of India and other Professional Societies. He has also served as the treasurer of the Computer Society of Anna University. He is a member of academic and administrative bodies of many educational institutions in India. He has also served as an Examiner for Ph.Ds of many universities in India.
